Amen. If you have your Bible, please turn to the Book of Jeremiah; Jeremiah, a great Old Testament book. Jeremiah was called in chapter 1 called of God to be a prophet to the nations. The year was 627 B.C. The Bible tells us it was in the 13th year of Josiah the king. Josiah followed Manasseh. Manasseh was a horrible king. Josiah was a good king. And, ah, in 627 B.C., the message that God gave to Jeremiah was, "Tell My people if they don't repent of their idolatry and of their sin, that judgment is coming." And judgment is coming from the north, and judgment is coming from a nation called Babylon. And so, that was Jeremiah's mission. And he called the people to repentance, and the people blew him off. They didn't like Jeremiah. They didn't like his message. The false prophets said, "Don't listen to that guy. God is not going to destroy us. We are God's people." And sure enough, destruction came. The people didn't repent, and dest, destruction came. Destruction came from Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. It came in three stages. 605 B.C., he came and attacked Jerusalem, and he defeated Jerusalem, and he hauled off many, many captives for, from Jerusalem and took them back to Babylon. We know of four very well - Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They came over as young men, probably in just teenagers, ah, in 605. Nebuchadnezzar had, ah, Judah, the nation of Judah, the two tribes that, capital city in Jerusalem, he had them under his thumb. But they messed around, and he came back in 597 B.C., slapped them around some more, took some more captives. And then, they messed around again and thought they could rebel against Nebuchadnezzar. He came back in in 586 B.C. He broke down the wall. He destroyed Solomon's temple, that beautiful temple, destroyed it to the ground, and he killed so many people. It was total destruction. Jeremiah said this is coming in the Book ...
