Scripture: John 15:12-22

Title: Cheer Up, Jesus is With You!
Author: Marvin Patterson
Text: John 15:12-22

To Tell the weather, Go to your back door and look for the dog.

If the dog is at the door and he is wet, it's probably raining. But if the dog is standing there really soaking wet, it is probably raining really hard.

If the dog's fur looks like it's been rubbed the wrong way, it's probably windy.

If the dog has snow on his back, it's probably snowing.

Of course, to be able to tell the weather like this, you have to leave the dog outside all the time, especially if you expect bad weather.

Sincerely,

The CAT

Introduction:

Jesus is training the disciples in the things that will help them become the mighty Church of Jesus Christ! In this passage he warns that there may be some that look down upon you, and even try to persecute you, but be of good cheer, for if you suffer for Jesus, He will reward you with heavenly blessings!

I used to work for a company in which I delivered items to about 130 stops a day! I would leave the little Gospel tracts or pamphlets like you see out in the vestibule at most places every day! One day my supervisor called me in and he got all over me because I was leaving the Gospel all over the City of Greensboro! I had to stop placing them out and I thought that was unfair, but he was the bossman, and I had to listen to him. After that I learned what Jesus was talking about in this passage! Most of the people appreciated it, but some did not. I leaned just a little about what it means to persecuted for righteous sake! I was trying to do right, but others tried to put cold water on my fire! That is just a small incident compared to what Jesus is getting ready to do in just a couple of hours! Jesus will be beaten to a bloody pulp by the Roman soldiers before the night is over!
