Title: Joy Through a Gospel Shaped Attitude (3)
Series: Philippians
Author: Josh Malone
Text: Philippians 2:1-11
- Illus.- Raising a toddler - Attitude- My son is going to be 3 next month and I have to tell all the Cannon & Eden stories I can before they are older and are in the service and won't let me. One thing a toddler has is an ATTITUDE. It reminds me of the story of the little boy that was told to sit down time and again and finally he did but he said "I'm standing up on the inside." Cannon stands up on the inside sometimes. He likes to say "mine," he has failed to grasp that he doesn't really own anything. He has two adults that love him and we let him use our stuff. The one thing that gets Cannon in trouble many times this days is his attitude and it usually is because as a 2 year old sometimes his attitude can be self-focused. Sometimes you wish you could just get a kid to understand... if they would adjust their thinking, their mindset, their attitude... things between them and others sure could be a lot better. The hardest thing to do is to change the way someone thinks.
- In the Christian life some of our biggest problems in the church, in the home, and with others are rooted in our attitude. Much like our children we can be self focused and forget we don't really own anything we happen to have a loving Father that allows us to steward His stuff. --- The hardest thing for us to do is to change the way we think. If we would think different... we would act different. Thinking and believing drive behavior. Always.

- In Philippians the Apostle Paul writes from a Roman prison. In the midst of pain and adversity he has joy and he wants the Philippians to have joy as well. Here in chapter two Paul begins to encourage Phillip in a problem area- unity. In so doing we gets to the root of the issue which is the need for an attitude ...
