Title: Ephesus & Smyrna: Love & Suffer Well (4)
Series: The Book of Revelation

Text: Revelation 2:1-11
- In Revelation 2-3 we get Jesus addressing 7 churches. - These 7 churches located in in the Roman province of Asia each had their own particular issues at hand. - They were real first century churches, with real members, with real issues.
- These are the 7 churches Revelation was originally written to. - The book would have been ready by each church. These 7 mini-letters within the letter address each church, but all the other churches would have read this as well.

- In fact, the issues these churches faced, the battles they faced, the sins some of them struggled with ... churches are still battling these and facing these.
- Churches still struggle with false teaching and immorality and growing cold in love.
- Churches still face suffering and persecution. Churches still must steward opportunity.
- Chapters 2-3 are very applicable for us today.
- Today we will look at two churches. Ephesus and Smyrna.
- Today reminds us it is important for us to LOVE God and others well ... and suffering will test that, so love well now ... so you can love well in the season of suffering.
Rev. 2:1-11 - "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: 'The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands.
