- God has a mission. God choose to involve us in that, isn't that great? - One thing we can say for sure about the Apostle Paul is that he was fully engaged in the mission of God. He was committed, sold out, to advancing the gospel and making disciples to the glory of God.

- Maybe you've wondered ... "What is my role in God's mission? Does God want to utilize me in His work in the world? What does that look like for me?"

- Does it mean joining a convent? Does it mean holding a sign on the street corner?

- Apostle Paul was different than you and me. He was an Apostle. While every believer carries the message of Christ, represents Christ in the world, is called to share the gospel ... we are not apostles in the sense Paul was. He had a unique call on his life in the beginning of church history, much like Peter.

- However, we can learn a lot about the mission of God, and principles for how God works in the world, and takeaways for our lives ... as we look at his life and ministry.

- In Acts 11 this where we pick up ...

- Paul has been sent to Tarsus, his hometown, after his life being under threat in Jerusalem. He has now been there several years. While he's been in Tarsus, away from Jerusalem where the apostles were, God is at work ... and not simply in Jerusalem.

- In fact, what we will see today is one of the first big movements of God in the early church didn't happen under the preaching of the apostles. It didn't happen in Jerusalem. It didn't happen because an Apostle boldly took the gospel into a new place.

- It happened because persecution scattered the church ... and some folks that loved Jesus but weren't apostles took the gospel to a new place and reached new people.
