Title: The Sermon that Almost Got the Preacher Killed (13)
Series: Luke
Author: Zach Terry
Text: Luke 4:16-30

CONTEXT: When reading a biblical narrative, it's helpful to read it multiple times and pay close attention to the climax of the passage. Here, we see that this story ends with the people of Nazareth taking Jesus to the brow of the hill on which the city was built with the intention of throwing him off and killing Him.

Imagine the anger, the fury, the indignation they were feeling. Ask yourself, "what happened that caused them to be on the brink of killing a man?" Then, go back through the narrative and read it with that ending in mind.

If your reading doesn't lead to the obvious conclusion that these people would be so enflamed with anger that they would want to put Jesus to a brutal death... keep studying and reading until, Luke's conclusion makes sense. If it doesn't make sense, you have not yet understood it.

Luke places this event in the life of Jesus right after the temptation in the wilderness.
As we read the other Gospel accounts and even Luke himself alludes to the fact, this was not the next significant event chronologically.
