- Some look around at our world today and wonder ... are things getting nearer to the return of Christ? - Is the world as we know it coming closer to an end? - Well, the truth is ... we are always getting closer.

- The Bible speaks of a tribulation period ... it speaks of an Antichrist figure and a False Prophet. It speaks of persecution of believers, it speaks of us being transformed in the twinkling of an eye, the dead rising first, believers being called to meet Him in the air, and it speaks of a sudden, visible, physical, return of Jesus Christ to this earth.

- But the Bible doesn't give us a date. - It could be very soon ... it could be centuries away. We are to anticipate, and eagerly wait, and live like Christ could return in our lifetime any day. For we know not the day or hour. So we are to ANTICIPTE His return in our lifetime.

- Today we conclude our Parables series, with a parable about being on WATCH. It's about living faithfully as we await the return of our King. -This parable is meant to encourage believers to live faithfully and unbelievers to believe before it's too late.

Matt. 24:1-13 - "Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their Lamps
and went to meet the bridegroom.

- This is what the Kingdom Heaven ... WILL BE LIKE. Jesus is letting us know this parable is about the future. - It is ultimately about the end of the age, when Christ returns.


2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they
took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 As the bridegroom
was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.

- Of the ten virgins, possibly bridesmaids ... 5 are foolish and 5 wise. The foolish are w/o oil in their lamp. This may be seen as a torch that would need to be dipped in oil to keep the fire going. They ...
