Title: Final Appeal

Text: Revelation 22:6-21
It's very seldom that you hear a message on the very last words of the Bible, but after 18 months in Revelation, this is where we are. Before we read, let's understand what we are reading. From Revelation 4 through Revelation 22:5, John was given a vision into the future. It seems that with the words of verse 5, the vision dissolved and now the Jesus and the angel are debriefing John. When I read verses 5-6, in my mind's eye, I can see the vision dissipating leaving the angel and Jesus to help John understand.
With this in mind, let's read our text.
In our effort to have a fair and balanced judicial system our forefathers gave us a court system with recourse if we felt treated unfairly. For instance, if our case was decided against us, then we can generally APPEAL it. This is because of the picture of the 'blind justice.' (Screen- you can see the blindfold)
Imagine being a criminal attorney with a client who is found guilty of a capital offense and sentenced to death. Can you imagine your urgency and responsibility if you believed your client was innocent? How about going through 4 different appeals court only to lose in every court. Now, you believe the evidence is not being rightly considered, so you don't give up. Now you appeal to the SUPREME COURT? You stand before the US Supreme court holding your client's life in your hands, how would you feel? This is your FINAL APPEAL. This time, you must lead them to get it right.
As we have read and now approach this last section of God's word, we have born witness to all the ways that God will judge Satan, sin, and sinful people. He's serious about holiness and wickedness. At every turn He has extended His hand of grace to invite sinful people into the fold, He's even dictated a book, epistle, or letter so that people will have NO DOUBT of what the future of the wicked and the righteous are.
