Title: My Living Hope
Author: Jerry Watts
Text: Mark 15:37, 40-47; Mark 16:17
Did you catch the closing chorus of that wonderful lyric?
"Hallelujah! Praise the one who set me free!
Hallelujah! Death has lost its grip on me!
You have broken every chain, there's salvation in His name,
Jesus Christ, MY LIVING HOPE!" (hold on to this thought!)
At Christmas time, we love to say, "Jesus is the reason for the season." But don't miss this, "A living Jesus is a LIVING HOPE, who can be "OUR LIVING HOPE." That is the only reason we might have anything celebrate." Let's put it another way.
If Jesus is not alive.

- We have nothing to celebrate except an Easter bunny coming to town.
- We need to cease from meeting, turn off the lights, lock the door, sell the property and waste our time doing, because without the resurrection, we only have hope in this life, and as Paul writes, If so, we are of all men MOST MISERABLE. (But today there is a REASION to Celebrate - Jesus is ALIVE!!)
- The Easter (Resurrection) Story is LIFE FROM LIFELESSNESS. Life from Death. Too often we get sidetracked or distracted by other things surrounding this day, but today is all about Jesus coming back to life from the Dead. "HE IS RISEN! The choir has sung about it, we have sung about it, New Song has heralded, and our Youth have embellished he message -HE'S ALIVE. THIS IS EASTER.
- Psalm 30:5 gives us "Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning." ("spend the night") To experience the joy of the day, you may have to, you may need to, or you may be required to endure the pain of the night, but joy comes in the morning. The Resurrection is the morning. We can be excited and experience Joy because we know how it turns out. This morning, let take one of the Biblical accounts and put some handles on it and what it means.
