If you have your Bible, please turn to the Book of Job. We're in a series entitled, "The Truth About..." And today, we want to look at, "The Truth About Troubles and Tragedies of Life."

You know, when you speak about trouble, or preach on trouble, everybody gets it, and everybody can relate to it. There is not a person in this room who doesn't have some kind of trouble right now. And there's not a person in this room who's either in tragedy, just coming out of tragedy, or getting ready to enter into tragedy. "Man, who is born of woman, is short-lived and full of trouble," Job says.

I heard about a teacher, and she was teaching this second-grader in her second-grade class about math. And so, she said to little Johnny, "Now, Johnny, if I give you two cats and two cats more and two cats more, how many cats do you have?" He said, "Seven." She said, "No. Listen! If I give you two cats and two cats more and two cats more, how many cats do you have?" He said, "Seven." She said, "No, let's try this. If I give you two apples and then I give you two more apples and two apples, how many apples do you have?" He said, "Six." She said, "That's right. That's good. So, let's go back to the first one. If I give you two cats and two cats more and two cats more, how many cats do you have?" He said, "Seven." She said, "Why do you keep saying seven?" He said, "Because I already have a cat!"

Now, when we talk about troubles, everybody's got one, at least. And some of you have seven cats. You have lots of trouble. So, what is the truth about "The Troubles and Tragedies of Life?" You know, the age-old question is, why do bad things happen to good people? And the good should be in quotes because Jesus said, "There is no one good except God alone.
