If you have your Bible, please turn to John chapter 15. We want to talk today about "The Truth About the Christian in the World."

Now, when I was a little boy, I was introduced to a story about a girl that lived in the Midwest. Her name was Dorothy. And she got caught in a storm. Some of you might have been introduced to this story, too. She got caught in a storm, and the tornado was coming, and she was separated from her family. And they couldn't find her, so they went down in the storm cellar and kind of left her to fend for herself. And poor Dorothy went into the house, and the wind blew, and it blew the window into her face and knocked her out. And then she woke up, and the house was way up in this tornado. She didn't know what was going on. And then it dropped her into a strange place. She woke up, Dorothy Gale, in the land of Oz, and it was a strange place. She was a stranger in a strange land. And the whole time she was there in Oz she wanted to go home. Now, that is a picture, I think, a very faint picture, of the Christian in the world, because we are in a strange place as Christians in this world. And the desire of the heart of a Christian is to be with the Lord. Paul said he desired to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better. The Bible says in Philippians chapter 3, "Our citizenship is in heaven from which we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ," who will come and get us. So, we're strangers in a strange land, so to speak, and God tells us what we are to do while we are here on this earth.
