God's State of the Ministry Address (3)
Malachi
Robert Dawson
Malachi 2:1-9
A couple of weeks ago we had the annual State of the Union address from our president. I rarely watch them. This one was no different. I did not watch. They rarely meet their stated purpose. They never really explain the state of our Union is.

- Gloss over their failures.
- Ignore the problems that exist.

Here in Malachi 2, God offers a State of the Ministry address. He gives His assessment of the priests and their ministry, a ministry He had given them. His assessment is...
- Not exaggerated but accurate.
- No empty rhetoric but full of truth.
This state of the ministry address is scathing. It condemns them for the current state of ministry and seeks to call them back to the purposes for which God had called them.
Malachi 2.1-9 - 2 "And now this commandment is for you, O priests. 2 If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name," says the Lord of hosts, "then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; and indeed, I have cursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart. 3 Behold, I am going to rebuke your offspring, and I will spread refuse on your faces, the refuse of your feasts; and you will be taken away with it.
4 Then you will know that I have sent this commandment to you, that My covenant may continue ...
