INTRODUCTION:
God has a place of service for every one of you. No one is exempt. No one is too old, too poor, or too tired. God put you into His kingdom and now he expects you to serve.
God has a mission for you! God has a tremendous purpose for you. He saved you to use to bring glory to Himself, to be on a mission for God.
Philip is a wonderful example of a man on a mission. Philip was used by God to set a city on fire. He was used by God to lead a black man from Ethiopia to salvation. He was used by God to push the gospel message into places it had never been before.
What could God do with your life?
Out text reveals several truths about Philip.
I want to challenge you this morning to be on a mission for God. Make these truths about Philip's life, truths about your life.
I) PHILIP WAS RESPONSIVE TO THE SPIRIT-VS. 26-29
Philip is a man who unquestionably obedient to the Spirit.
Notice how the Spirit leads Philip:
1) Through Persecution- 7:5 Sometimes God uses difficulties to get us where he wants us. I don't know about you, but this has certainly been apparent in my life.
2) Through an Angel-8:26 All of us have been ministered to by angels, we just have not seen them or heard them speak. This was much more common during this time frame than today.
3) Through the inner voice of the Spirit. A sense of God's direction. An internal witness of God's direction.
4) The main point is not so much how God spoke, but what Philip did when God spoke. He arose and went. He obeyed. The Spirit will speak this morning, through the word and the inner voice. Will you arise and go?
