Text: Mark 16:15-16
INTRODUCTION: Evangelism is not a task that we just learn to do, but rather it is a lifestyle that we live. As we daily come into the revelation of Jesus Christ, we become personally transformed into worshippers. In order for this to take place, it is necessary that we receive a revelation concerning who God is and who we are in Christ. Knowledge of the Holy is the greatest need in our lives and in the Church of Jesus Christ today.
The Apostle Paul knew the importance of evangelism and made it his highest priority to share the gospel with whomever he came into contact with. So what is Evangelism? Evangelism is the announcement, proclamation, and/or preaching of the gospel, or the good news of and about Jesus Christ. This gospel message is specifically found in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 which says, "3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." I think it's important for us to understand that Paul shared what he received first. That tells us it's imperative that we have a relationship with Jesus before we try to tell somebody else about Jesus.
The English word, "evangelism," comes from the Greek word euaggelion and is most literally translated to mean "gospel" or "good news." The Greek word in its various forms appears fifty-five times in the New Testament, includes warning people about sin and the consequences of sin, and provides an explanation of God's remedy for sin-which is the gospel. Evangelism has been given to the church and we have the mandate to carry out the Lord's order ...
