The way of grace is difficult to accept for the religious mind because it goes against human reasoning. The Bible states that our thoughts and ways are not God's thoughts and ways.1 If we approach the life of faith from human reasoning and logic, it will seem absurd. This is one of the main reasons grace falls under so much criticism. When we approach the gospel from the perspective of human reasoning, it doesn't make sense. This is why the Bible says the human mind cannot discern the ways of the Spirit, for they can only be discerned through the Spirit's revelation.2

The human mind says, "How can we overcome sin unless we do something?" Yet God states that He will cause us to walk in His ways through the power of the Spirit within us.
