When we find ourselves in a position of vulnerability, this is often because God is about to show His power in us, or in our situation. Kindreds of people are forgotten in the timeline of history because they did not trust God when circumstances didn't make sense. Great faith doesn't come from great people. It arises from the everyday people who learn how to take God at His word, in spite of circumstances.

I am going to look at examples of people we would consider giants of the faith. Let's take examples from people in very different walks of life.

Example of Esther

Esther's parents had been killed, and she was raised by her uncle, Mordecai. At this time, the Jews were in captivity to Persia, and the King of Persia had a second in command named Haman. Haman loathed Mordecai because he would not bow before him. In retaliation, he persuaded the king to allow him to eliminate what he called a very troublesome people, who were a threat to the king.

Haman sent out a decree in the king's name giving permission to everyone in the nation to kill any Jew in their providence and plunder their possessions. The people could start preparing, and on the thirteenth of the following month, they could take over the lands and possessions of any Jew they annihilated on that specific day. In preparation, Haman built gallows approximately seventy-five foot high. Haman took great pleasure in the fact he would soon hang Mordecai where everyone could see his victory over his enemy.

Obviously, this caused great distress for Mordecai, and all the Jewish people. Destruction seemed impossible to avoid. By looking at the circumstances, it seemed as though God was distant and uncaring. How could God allow them to be placed in the path of certain death?
