Text: Isaiah 61:1-2

INTRODUCTION: Is there something broken in your life right now? Is there something that needs to be made whole? Is there something that, once it gets fixed would make your life easier or better? I believe we all have found ourselves in a position where something when wrong and we needed something or somebody to make it better. There may be something that happened in our yesterdays that continues to remind us of our hurt or pain. When we find ourselves in pain, we want to go to somebody that can give us some relief. When a child would fall and hurt itself, it would run to their parents, tell the parents where it hurts, and would want the parents to make it all better.

As children of God, we too find ourselves in the very same predica-ment. When something goes wrong; something gets hurt (our bodies, minds, hearts, feelings), we too go to our Father who says all the right things and has the remedy for what ails us. I submit to you today that if there's something in your life that needs to be made whole, you can be whole if you turn it over to the Lord.

The mission of Jesus and the church is to reach out and make people whole. There are broken people everywhere; truth of the matter is... there are broken people right here in the sanctuary today! God has so designed it that Jesus was sent to deal with our ultimate brokenness, which is sin, and now the church is in place to help people with the other areas of brokenness they are dealing with. In order for us to meet the needs of broken people, we can't always expect them to come to us...we must go to them. As we strive to be a W.H.O.L.E. Church, Outreach is Part of Our Mission!
