James 1:18
Introduction
Have you every wondered why God would send His own Son down here on earth to suffer the scorn and shame of the cross? Or why even would Christ, who was and is God, would humble Himself and come down to earth and become a man and suffer the cross?
Think about it! Put yourself in the place of God as the Father of Christ and would you want your son to go through that? Put yourself in the place of Christ as son and would you want to go through it? Personally I am selfish and I would not wish what Christ went through on my worst enemy. So, the question comes why did God and Christ do it?
It is simple, because it was the only way it could happen. Christ had to come so that man could be saved from sin. But is that all? Is that the only thing? Yes, that is the reason. Christ did not come that you would have a better life. He did not come to give you everything. He did not come for you even. He came that we would be forgiven of our sin, made holy and that God would get the glory for all of it.
We as humans are stained with sin, bottom line. Ps. 14:1-3). That is telling us that Christ made the way when there was no other way. Humans can do nothing good enough to satisfy the wrath of God against sin.
"Their throat is an open grave," Paul goes on to say in Romans 13; "with their tongues they keep deceiving, the poison of asps is under their lips; whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood, destruction and misery are in their paths, and the path of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes" (Rom. 3:13-18). That ...
