In the Beginning

Primary Scripture: Genesis 10:1-11:9
If you have your Bible, turn to Genesis chapter 10. We're in a series called "In The Beginning." We're going through the Book of Genesis. Genesis is the book of beginnings. And we lay the foundation for the rest of the Bible in the Book of Genesis. It's a very important book. We want to look at Genesis 10 and Genesis 11, at least a part of Genesis 11, in a message I've entitled, "A Preview of Prophecy." There's a foreshadowing in the Book of Genesis. There are previews in the Book of Genesis as to what is going to take place at the end of time in the Book of Revelation. We're going to see a vivid picture, although not everything is filled in, perfectly, but a picture in Genesis some 5,000 years ago, of what the Bible says is going to take place in the future during the time of Jacob's trouble, the time called the Tribulation Period that's spoken of in the Book of Revelation chapter 6 through the end of the book. We see a picture here, and it's a picture of a man named Nimrod and a place known as Babel or Babylon.
Now, in Genesis we read, and we know about Adam and Eve, and we know about the fall of man and what happened in the garden. And we talked about how Adam and Eve then became fruitful, started to become fruitful, and multiplied and filled the earth. It didn't take long for the earth to be filled with sin, so much so that God said in Genesis 6 that He was sorry that He made man on the earth, and He was going to destroy man whom He had made on the earth. That's what He says in Genesis 6. Noah is the only one who finds favor in the sight of the LORD, Noah and his three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth and their wives and Noah's wife. Eight people are saved from the destruction of the flood that came in Genesis chapter 7 and goes through Genesis chapter 8. At the end of Genesis 8 Noah gets off the ark.
