The Ark of Salvation (15 of 61)
In the Beginning
Pastor Jeff Schreve
Primary Scripture: Genesis 7:1-8:19
If you have your Bible, please turn to Genesis chapter 7. We want to talk about Noah's ark.
Now, you know the Bible is a very unique Book. We kind of look at the Bible as one book, but it's not one book. It's 66 books. And it's been written over 1500+ years by about 40 different authors in three languages and written on three continents. Now, if you have that many people writing this Book, the 66 books, and it all comes together, and it's all unified, that is an amazing miracle, that this Book could come to you and to me and have one message and one theme, and that's the theme of salvation; salvation in God's provision. The Old Testament saints put their faith and trust in God's provision. They looked forward to the cross. The New Testament saints, we look back to the cross. But everything culminates in Jesus.
Remember when Jesus was on the road to Emmaus? And He was with Cleopas and another unnamed disciple, and He was walking along with them, the resurrected Christ, and He's talking to them. And they said, "Well, we thought that Jesus was going to be the Messiah." And He said, "O foolish men and slow in heart to believe all that the Scriptures have spoken! Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and then to enter into His glory?" And it says, "And beginning with Moses and the prophets, He showed them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures." He did not show them all the things concerning Himself in the Scriptures, but the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. Everything that Moses wrote and the prophets wrote, it's all about Jesus. And He is in there from start to finish. And so, we want to look at the story of Noah and the ark and the flood and the salvation that God brought through the ark.
