Introduction

1. There are two dates that are very, very important to me personally and individually. One is December 22nd, 1952.The reason that date is so important is that is the date of my birth. I am at the age and stage of life where I really wish I didn't have any more birthdays until I consider the alternative which is what we are about to talk about.

2. The other date that is extremely interesting to me is February 15, 2034, and that is because according to this website that is when I am going to "buy the farm." In this website, you type in your date of birth, answer a few questions about your health and out pops your estimated date of expiration. I wanted to stretch that time out as long as I could so I figured out I've got about 345 million seconds left on this earth.

3. Assuming that clock is right I do find two pieces of good news. First of all, that means I'll be dying in the wintertime when the weather is mucky anyway. I will have just probably seen Georgia win its thirteenth consecutive National Championship. I don't know, you don't know, and that computer doesn't know when I am going to die or when you are going to die. What we do know is we are going to die. God has a death clock for every one of us. That clock is ticking and we don't know when the ticking will stop but it will.

4. We don't like to talk about death. People are uncomfortable with it. You shift in your seats. You look down at the floor. You really don't want to face reality. People go to two extremes when it comes to death. Some people are just obsessed with dying. They think about it a lot particularly as they get older.
