Primary Scripture: Genesis 4:1-8
Well, if you have your Bible, turn to Genesis chapter 4. We started a series some weeks ago on the Book of Genesis, and we have gotten into chapter 4. My daughter was doing some stuff with sermons. She works for From His Heart Ministries. And she said, "Dad, how many sermons are going to be in the Genesis series?" I said, "Good night! I think I got 15 already, and I just finished chapter 3." So, I said, "Fifty chapters." She goes, "You think over a 100?" I said, "Probably." So, it's volume like that. But, we'll see how that goes.
Genesis chapter 4. I want to talk to you tonight about The Way of Cain. Now, some of you may remember a song back in the late 60's. It was written by Bert Bacharach, and it was sung by Dionne Warwick, and it was very popular. The song was titled, "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" Anybody remember, "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" It was one of those songs that you didn't really like but it got stuck in your head and you couldn't get it out. But the words were pretty good. It says, "I've been away so long. Do you know the way to San Jose? I've been away so long I may go wrong and lose my way. Do you know the way to San Jose? I'm going back to find some peace of mind in San Jose." Kind of interesting little aside: This morning, on the radio program, "Real Truth for Today," I interviewed Lisa Cangelosi Brown. Her testimony was, "I was a Hollywood prodigal." And she tried to find fame and fortune in Hollywood. And she appeared on Walker, Texas Ranger, and she did some national commercials, and she was in the movie, "Bruce Almighty." And she said, "You know, I tried to really find myself that Hollywood lifestyle, and it just left me totally empty." And, finally, she ended up broke, and she was working as a waitress, and then got hurt and couldn't work as a waitress anymore, couldn't make any tips. And she ...
