Primary Scripture: Genesis 3:20-24
If you have your Bible, turn to Genesis chapter 3. We've been in Genesis chapter 3 for a number of weeks because it's such a rich chapter.
A seminary professor was talking to his class, and he said, "What are the two great surprises that every Christian will experience in heaven?" The first great surprise: You will be surprised at who is not there. Second great surprise: You will be surprised at who is there. The two great surprises. Somebody has said, "And there's a third surprise: You're going to be surprised that you're there." But, that is not a surprise because we can know that we are going to heaven. But, you know, Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter he kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. For many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name perform many miracles, and in Your name cast out demons?' Then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.'"
Who is there and who is not there? Now, I want you to think about that as it relates to the first man and the first woman, Adam and Eve. Chris mentioned to me just a minute ago, "You know, I've never really thought about that." Did Adam and Eve go to heaven? Will you see Adam and Eve in heaven? Are they going to be the ones that are not there or the ones that are there? Does the Bible even tell us that, because the Bible doesn't tell us a lot about Adam and Eve in terms of their conversations or things like that. We read in Genesis 2 about Adam and Eve. Adam doesn't say a whole lot. "This is now bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called Woman because she was taken out of Man." That's kind of the only thing he says.
