If you have your Bible, please turn to Genesis chapter 3. We want to talk about The Consequences of Sin.
Now, in 1940, a new game show hit the airwaves. It was on the radio for a number of years before television was invented, and then it went on television. It lasted for 48 years. The game show was called Truth or Consequences. Does anybody remember Truth or Consequences? Bob Barker was the host at one time. They would ask you this kind of crazy question. It was a hard to answer question. And then they'd give you just a few seconds to answer it. If you couldn't answer it, you heard the buzz, and then there were the consequences, because you weren't able to tell the answer and give the truthful answer to the question. Truth or Consequences. What was interesting about this game show was the logo that they used. So, you have truth with a halo because the Lord is truth; consequences with a pitchfork to show that if you don't know the truth, if you don't tell the truth, then there are consequences.
Well, in our study in the Book of Genesis, Adam and Eve were told the truth by God. Actually, Adam was told the truth, and Adam told Eve the truth, "From any tree of the garden you may freely eat, but from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat from it; for in the day you eat from it you shall surely die." One command that they had in the beautiful garden of Eden, in the environment of perfection, where the man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed. And they walked with God, and everything was wonderful. But then, in Genesis chapter 3 we read about the fall of man. And the serpent, who is the devil and Satan, as it says in Revelation chapter 12, the serpent came in and he deceived Eve, and Eve ate of the fruit and gave to her husband with her, and he ate o ...
