INTRODUCTION: For many adults, attending the theater or seeing a Broadway show, is what going to Disney World is for children!

*You purchase your tickets in advance.

*You plan your schedule so not to be late.

*You pick out what clothes you're going to wear.

*You park your vehicle in the closest parking spot.

*You proceed into the theatre, anticipating the show.

Once you find your seat, soon the lights begin to dim, the crowd quickly becomes silent as if someone flipped a light switch, the master of ceremonies walks to center stage and suddenly from above, a bright spotlight zeros' in on them as they welcome everyone to the presentation. That moment was made possible by American inventor Louis Hartmann, who in 1879 invented the spotlight. Hartmann's invention forever changed theatre productions, plays and more. The spotlight draws our attention to one location on the stage, blacking out the rest of the set. There may be other props and people on the stage, but for that moment, our attention is focused on that one spot!

Over the next four weeks, we want to shine a spotlight on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus' resurrection is so significant and far-reaching it can be compared to only one other miracle in the Bible - the creation in Genesis one. In fact, the resurrection of Christ is the first act of the NEW creation and is it's foundation. Over the next few weeks, we're going to talk about the resurrection and its relationship to despair, joy and hope. But today, we'll talk about the resurrection and purpose.
