Title: What Holy Living Looks Like (4 of 4)
Series: Holy Living
Author: Darrow Perkins
Text: Galatians 5:22-26

INTRODUCTION: Now that Paul has identified the characteristics of holy living, he now moves towards how we can actually do those things. Earlier in this chapter, he makes the statement in verse 16, "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lusts of the flesh." We're living in a day and time whereby people would rather live how they want to instead of living for Christ. There are a lot of people in Christendom today who are more apt to be "hearers of the word" only rather than "doers of the word." Generally speaking, they go to worship; they hear the preached word; yet they do not take the steps necessary to apply what they've heard. For some, just being in worship is enough; for others, it's an opportunity to make a personal assessment of their spiritual growth and development and implement the changes necessary to be better for the kingdom of God. That means we make a choice to live for Christ rather than ourselves and allow Him to live through us. I've said before that our relationship with Christ should be stronger and deeper today than it was the day He saved us. It takes work; it takes commitment; it takes a desire to live for Christ.

BACKGROUND/TEXT: Here we have Paul exhorting us to live holy. Whatever we do in this life will be brought before God at some point and Paul's admonition is that we live according to God's holy word. He gives us three things we should do in order to live holy before God. It's easy to live holy before men, because they don't know what you do when you're not around them, but God is aware of everything we do, but in public and in private. Since we know that God is watching our every move, we should commit to What Holy Living Looks Like!
