Series: Holy Living

Text: Galatians 5:22-26

INTRODUCTION: As we continue to make our way through Holy Living, it's important for us to know that we cannot do this on our own. We need the power of the living God dwelling inside of us to enable us to operate in Holy Living. Some people think that when they make a commitment to Christ that they have to give up living; but the reality is, they give up living contrary to the voice and word of God. It's important for us to understand that the life we live is not our own, but it actually belongs to God. You may remember that the scriptures teach us in 1 Corinthians 6:20 that "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your spirit, which are God's." You see, holy living pleases God and brings a positive witness to our testimony. As believers in Jesus Christ, we have to come to grips with the fact that we are not living for ourselves, but are living as a testimony for the Lord Jesus Christ! When He left heaven and came to the earth, He showed us how to live; now it is our responsibility to show the world What Holy Living Looks Like.

The next three expressed the manward aspect of the Christian life: long-suffering (courageous endurance without quitting), gentleness (kindness), and goodness (love in action).1

These next three qualities exhort us to deal with our fellow man accordingly, as though we were dealing with God. Believe it or not, the way we handle others reflects how we handle God. Today we are going to deal with the middle three qualities of the Fruit of the Spirit and see how they will help us to show others What Holy Living Looks Like!
