Seemingly Insignificant

In our study of "Holy Week" we have discussed the triumph of a towel, as Jesus used something as seemingly insignificant as a towel and a basin to teach his men the beauty and bounty of stooping down and becoming a servant. He told them that to climb higher, one must be willing to stoop lower.

We also looked at how he used a seemingly insignificant donkey, one that was borrowed, one that had never been broken or ridden. That donkey was literally no different than all of the other donkeys that were strewn throughout Israel, yet the Lord rode upon that particular donkey, making it far from insignificant.

Previously, we discussed the crowing of a rooster, though there had to be hundreds, if not thousands of roosters in and around Jerusalem at the time of the Lord's arrest, but Jesus foretold of this particular rooster. It was during the wee hours of the morning that Peter denied the Lord on three various occasions and at the appropriate time, that ole rooster crowed like never before. The bible is filled with seemingly insignificant things, insignificant people, insignificant places, and insignificant moments.

On the other hand, on the morning of the Lord's crucifixion, we find a few Roman Soldiers gathering on the top of Mount Calvary, performing a seemingly insignificant task, to a seemingly insignificant man, while they used seemingly insignificant tools, such as a hammer, two pieces of wood and three nails.
