Text: Galatians 5:19-21
INTRODUCTION: Some years ago, a man by the name of Rodney King found himself in an altercation with duty sworn police officers whose main purpose is to protect and to serve the public. They thought he was under the influence of drugs and even though he (meaning Rodney) kept telling them that he was not resisting arrest, yet the police continued to beat on him. After the incident, Rodney was part of press conference and made the statement that continues to be used even to this day, and that statement is... "Why can't we all just get along?"
I believe one of the factors involving this situation was the fact that there truly was a miscommunication that took place. I further believe that miscommunications take place all the time in the way we say things, how we present ourselves, and what people perceive about us. If we approach things and people in the manner that God desires of us, these miscommunications will come to an abrupt halt in most cases. Let's also keep in mind that not everybody you deal with or come across will be on your level of spirituality and may not always understand what it is you're trying to accomplish in the name of the Lord. Taking a few minutes to explain this will remove any miscommunication if people are willing to just listen.
Since we all live in this world, we should all make it up in our minds that we must get along in order to accomplish the mandate God has prescribed for us. Believe it or not, we are all "our brother's keepers" and God blesses us to be a blessing to others. We can do this if we have an attitude much like the Lord in which He didn't have a problem helping people, and a mind to do the will of the Father that sent Him.
