Every person has life controlling issues. Some are more socially acceptable, while others are more destructive. Whether your life is hindered by insecurity, selfishness, and anger, or whether you are dominated by substance abuse, depression, or behavioral addictions, we are all broken vessels.

The reason we struggle is because we were created incomplete. The voids in your life are there by design, because you were created to be complete in the Lord. God has declared the following in Colossians 2:9-10

9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

The problem is not your addiction. It is not the issues that hinder, or even plague your life. The problem is that you were designed to be complete in Christ, and if you try to fill the empty voids with anything other than perfect union with God, you'll spend more time trying to fill in the empty places than thriving in life.

People who have already received the life of Christ continue to struggle because of bad teaching and flawed theology. Most of us have been taught that if we can fix ourselves, God will be pleased with us. This is a lie. God DOES NOT reject you because you are flawed and sinful. God does not want you to fix yourself. God has already given the fix, and He will not permit us to fill in the gaps of our lives with religion, works, or any form of self-effort. Every form of human effort is a rejection of God's provision.

God will not reject us because we have filled our lives with sin, destructive behaviors, good works, or self-effort. God rejects all of these things, but does not reject us. God removes these things while accepting and welcoming us. He removes what isn't compatible with His perfect love. The burden is ...
