RIGHTEOUS-(NESS) (5X) - "To be right"
When the Bible speaks of a "righteous" man, it is speaking of one who is RIGHT WITH God. We are WRONG. God is RIGHT. When we come to Him, in repentance and faith, He removes our WRONGness and imputes His RIGHTness, making it possible to be RIGHTeous, and RIGHT with Him.
God has never been wrong, will never be wrong, because He CAN never be wrong. He is RIGHT, and everything He does is RIGHT.
(Genesis 18:25) "Shall not the judge of all the earth do right?"
Because He is RIGHT, His WILL, His WAYS, His WORK, His WORD is RIGHT. He has no one to answer to but Himself. He has no authority outside of Himself. He is the standard of RIGHT, and anything outside of Him is WRONG.
1) His PERCEPTION of God!
Once the Psalmist perceives the rightness of God, he understands that God is reliable, dependable and faithful.
A) Faithful to His PERSON(137)
1) CHARACTER - "art THOU"
God is not just right in WHAT HE DOES but in WHO HE IS
Arthur Clark: "The Law is a true transcript of the righteous character of God."
We don't often fully comprehend the ways of God in the short term, but through the prism of time, His perfect, holy, righteous wisdom is clearly manifested.
We often say of someone, "That's out of character for them." You'll never say that of God. He will never be out of character. He is faithful to His person.
2) COMMANDMENTS (138, 140, 142)
American Congress - Legislators/Lobbyists
(Legislators - Make Laws/Lobbyists - Influence Laws)
God will NEVER be swayed by public/political opinion. The law of God is Impartial, Imperial, Impeccable. He cannot be bought, bribed, or bullied.
There is no favoritism or partiality with God. Righteousness if the basis for all of His precepts.
