A plane had lost all navigational equipment on the flight. Pilot announced: "Ladies and Gentlemen, we don't know where we are, we don't know where we're going, but we're making excellent time."
Believers have advantage over unbelievers. We know where we are, we know where we're going, and we know how to get there, because we have a roadmap called the Word of God.
The Bible never refers to someone without Christ as "unsaved;" but "LOST." Lost - Helpless/Hopeless. They DO NOT KNOW the way, because they CANNOT FIND the way.
(Isaiah 30:21) "This is the way, walk ye in it."
Jesus didn't come to TELL us ABOUT the way; or SHOW us TO the way; He came to say, "I AM THE WAY!"
One day, He revealed our lost condition, we responded to Him in repentance/faith and were SAVED.
As we travel this journey homeward, we have:
SON to LIGHT the way
SPIRIT to LOVE the way
SCRIPTURES to LEAD the way
It is a roadmap far greater than OnStar, Siri, or Google Maps.
1) It DIRECTS Us!
A) To FIND the Path (105)
LAMP - GENERAL - shows what's NEXT
LIGHT - SPECIFIC - shows what's NOW
LAMP - illuminates an entire room
LIGHT - illuminates a specific area
George Mueller - "A Lamp shows the stops; a light shows the steps."
At times, the Bible is a LIGHT - "Thou shalt not" (SPECIFIC)
At times, the Bible is a LAMP - "All appearance" (GENERAL)
B) To FOLLOW the Path (106)
1) STRENGTHENS Us in WEAKNESS (107)
Affliction - OUTSIDE - DEFEAT
(OBJECTIVE) - Need someone bigger than us
Affliction - INSIDE - DISCOURAGEMENT
(SUBJECTIVE) - Revives our heart/soul
"QUICKEN" (9x) - "to bring new life"
2) SUSTAINS Us in WORSHIP (108)
Law - Greatest Freewill Offering - BURNT Offering
BURNT - Everything Offered/Full Surrender
