The Kiamichi Clinic is a three-day men's retreat in SE Oklahoma, and it's located at Christ's 40 Acres near Honobia. Honobia is one of those places that you have to want to go there to find it! The men's retreat used to attract between three and four thousand men each May and ever since its inception the theme has remained the same: "How Can I Make My Life More Effective for Christ?"

For the past two months we've been in 1 Peter. We're not exactly going through the letter verse by verse, but theme by theme, and to conclude I'd like to borrow the Kiamichi Clinic's theme. Let's consider how we can make our lives for effective for Christ.

In 1 Peter 5, Peter addresses two groups of people. In vs. 1 he writes to, "The elders among you," and vs. 5 includes, "You who are younger." So Peter talks to the elders and the "youngers," and you can decide which category applies to you!

CT Studd grew up to become a British missionary. He was born, however, into a family of wealth and privilege. His parents sent him to Trinity College in 1885 to become a lawyer but they were disappointed when he walked away from the things most men cling.

He married Priscilla Stewart and together, they brought six children into the world. But,
Priscilla died at the age of fifty and that broke her husband's heart. He secluded himself in grief and would not be consoled until he expressed his grief with a now familiar verse:

Two little lines I heard one day,
Traveling along life's busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart,
And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last.
