I want to encourage you as we start the Christmas season to start with the reason for it in mind....

WOW.... Christmas season is crazy is it not?

Chasing deals on your computer
Comparing everything to Amazon
Trying to figure out all the schedules with school, work parties, sports, and family.
THEN YOU HAVE THE GIFTS....
How are you going to afford gifts for everyone?
Who do you have to buy for?
What gifts do you get everyone?
How much do you spend?
When do you wrap them?
We let the stress of finding the gift rob us of the reason we are buying the gift.
The gift loses its meaning because of the stress that comes along with it.
The disappointment someone might have when they receive it
Gifts express love.
Gifts demonstrate thoughtfulness.
Gifts convey gratitude.
Gifts express thanks.
Gifts show you matter.
Gifts make others feel special.
One thing I know to be true though is.... There is power in giving a gift....
No one understood it better than God our Father.. that is why over 40 times in the New Testament Jesus is referred to as a Gift.
When you read the Old Testament, you read of 100's of prophecies of Jesus as a gift.
If you study the bible close in every book of the Bible you will find JESUS!!!
The greatest Gift, yet so often we miss the meaning of the gift....
Let's go back to 700 years before Christ was born to what Isaiah's prophecy said was coming...
IS 9:6 [NIV] For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
