Nearly every person has to sift through what is true and what is fake. When the online road sign says, "Work from home a few hours and week and make $3,000 per week," you have to decide if this is fact or fiction. During Covid, we were asking ourselves about the science of masks - what was false and what is true? We have witnessed the emergence of "fact checkers" in political campaigns. You may call it fake news, propaganda, or disinformation but all of us face the issue of determining what is fact and what is fiction. You don't want to rely on fiction for your health, your views on science, and in your personal life. You need the facts. And you need the facts for your spiritual health as well. Too many people know spiritual facts but live on spiritual fiction. The early church faced the issue head-on in two little "postcards" called 2 John and 3 John.

This morning I want to focus your attention on one of the most neglected parts of your New Testament, the little postcards called 2 John and 3 John. They are the shortest documents in your New Testament. Often, we don't give them a second thought. Each of the "postcards" is so brief, that neither of them has the traditional chapters you are used to seeing with other books of the Bible. Since there is only one chapter per book or "postcard," we don't refer to chapters with these two. Instead, both 2 John and 3 John only have verses.
