I love the quote concerning doing the impossible, as follows:
"When I was research head of General Motors and wanted a problem solved, I'd place a table outside the meeting room with a sign: "Leave slide rules here." If I didn't do that, I'd find someone reaching for his slide rule. Then he'd be on his feet saying, "Boss, you can't do it.""

It seems that Kettering spent his entire life proving to people that impossible was only a manmade word, therefore he became a famous inventor. Charles Kettering made a famous quote, that fits our story today:
"There is a great difference between knowing and understanding: you can know a lot about something and not really understand it."

The problem with us today, is that we have become way to familiar with the Christmas Story, the virgin birth, the movement of Joseph and Mary from Nazareth unto Bethlehem, and the fascination is more "Ho Hum" than it is "Wow, how impossible was that to occur!!!"
As Kettering suggested, many of us think that we know, but none of us can truly understand the miraculous miracles of that first Christmas. You can glaze over the story if you like, but the events of those days were glorious, wonderous, momentous, and hugely enormous. If things had not of played out the way they did, the bible would have proven to be untrue and inaccurate!!!
Speaking of Charles F. Kettering, I came across this story of the noted scientist and inventor, who believed that the easiest way to overcome defeat was to ignore completely the possibility of failure. In an address delivered at Denison ...
