Title: Larger Than Life
Author: Steve Jones
Text: Philippians 2:25, 29 & Hebrews 13:7
"Epaphroditus, my brother, co-worker and fellow soldier...HONOR men like him" (Phil.2:25,29)
"Remember your leaders...REFLECT on what kind of lives they lived and try to have a faith like theirs" (Hebrews 13:7)
Today is a celebration of life service. We want to HONOR and REFLECT upon the life that he lived, as the Bible instructs.
LET US PRAY: Father in Heaven, our only hope in life and death, be near us now. In this gathering we will open many sorrows, remember many joys, and awaken many hopes. May your Holy Spirit work in this hour to accomplish your purposes. For we know you to be the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles. In Jesus' name, Amen.
"Jesus said, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.'" John 11:25
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am... I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:1-4, 6.
I think most of us would agree that this brother fits the definition of what we mean when we say that a person is "larger than life." We all know OF people like that, and sometimes we are privileged to PERSONALLY know such people.
