We are studying the book of Numbers on Sunday mornings in a series I'm calling, Life In Between. *And I want to congratulate you all. We are more than halfway through this incredible Old Testament book! I know you weren't sure we could make it, but we are well on our way. I hope you've learned more about the Word of God and have grown closer to Christ during this study.*
Today we're in Numbers 18 and 19. In these chapters, we learn a great deal about the roles of the priests and Levites in service to the Lord. God reminds His people about the duties and responsibilities of those who are set apart to serve the Lord. READ 18:1-7
*You might not know this, but here is a current crisis in the American church. Bible colleges and seminaries are sounding the alarm all across the evangelical landscape of our country. There is a shortage of qualified pastors and leaders for the local church. We have long heard of the clergy crisis among the Catholic Church or even liberal denominations. But now conservative churches are starting to feel the pain too. Why? There are variety of reasons. For one thing, being a pastor used to be a well-respected position in our society. Now, it seems people for sorry for you or want to argue with you when they find out you're a pastor. Another significant reason is the pressure of pastoring during times like these. If you have been pastoring for the last several years, or just leading in general, you have faced multiple crises. Our county has faced a political crisis, a medical crisis, a racial crisis, and a financial crisis all in the last three years. These kinds of crises normally couple at a rate of about two per decade. And we've had four in three years. This has led to some pastors stepping aside sooner than expected. They are exhausted and burnt out. And this has led to others who might consider ministry to head in ...
