Title: In Between Slavery and Salvation (2)
Series: Numbers-Life in Between
Author: Jim Perdue
Text: Numbers 9-10
Last week, we began a sermon series on the Old Testament book of Numbers. If you remember, I made you two promises if you stick with us through this study. First, you will learn more about the Bible and second, you will grow in your walk with God. Anyone who is serious about their faith should desire both of those things!
I told you last week, Numbers is a book about faithfulness-God's faithfulness even when we are faithless. It is a book about learning from the failures of past generations in order to be more faithful today. Numbers teaches these lessons through the story of two generations of Israel: one generation that consistently breaks faith with God, and an emerging generation that trusts him.1
And even though the entire narrative takes place during Israel's wanderings in the wilderness, there is an interesting parallel for our lives today. What the wilderness was to the people of Israel, the world is to the Christian today. Living in this world is like wandering in the wilderness. We are living in between the promise God has given us and the fulfilled provision of that promise. That's why I'm calling this series, Life In Between.
Today, from Numbers 9-10, I'm preaching on this subject, In Between Slavery and Salvation. In this passage, we see God's prepared way of leading the people through the wilderness to the Promised Land. And it's important for us still today to learn how to discern God's will for our lives and follow His plan. READ 9:1-2, 15-23; 10:33-36

The next day, he decided to drop the cat 40 blocks away but the same thing happened. He kept on increasing the number of blocks but the cat kept on coming home before him. At la ...
