Title: Preparation for Judgment
Author: Jerry Watts
Text: Revelation 15
Joni Ereckson Tada was 17 years old (in 1967) when a diving accident rendered her a quadriplegic. I mention that because today she is a well-known Christian author, artist, speaker, and motivator. Her life's journey causes her words to burn deeply in our psyche. She said, "God never places any real emphasis on the present-except as preparation for the future."
Consider her story, she was a vibrant young lady with an athletic future, but today, looking back through the lens of her life, she sees what she went through as preparation for the life that she has now lived, with the impact she has made.
It is against that backdrop that I offer this: "Today is preparation for tomorrow", 'Time is preparation for eternity', and 'This life (your life) is but boot camp for the life to come.' What I am saying is our tomorrow is largely dependent on what we do today. This is true in every area of this life as well as in the life to come.
Revelation 15 is a preparation for God's final judgment. His judgment has been building (seals, trumpets), like a boiling pot of water, and in short order, the pinnacle of His judgment and wrath will literally be poured out on the rebellious sinful world. Today, His invitation is still offered. Come, all you who will and receive rest.
TEXT
Most of the time, when we come to the Revelation, we come looking for the wrong thing. Some want to discover a calendar on which we can hang our hats OR to know about the end time or we would like to get answers for future events.
Yet this is not the purpose of this book. We spend so much time looking for what we want that often we miss what is here and, more importantly, what we need! The real reason for the last book of the Bible is discovered in the title. Revelation literally means Unveiling. It is the "Unveiling of Jesus." He's the centerpiece.
Even in our preparation for the coming bowl or vials of Go ...
