Intro: Meltdown getting the truck stuck in the backyard.

Some might say that because I was not cursing at anyone in particular, just the situation, I had gotten myself into, it really was not that big of a deal. Yes, my wife was upset, but I wasn't yelling at her, I was just mad.

But the truth is that it was not just me that was involved in the tirade. God was involved. God was involved for two reasons. One I was using his name inappropriately, and two because I'm never alone, God is always with me. God's Spirit lives within me. 1 Corinthians 3:16, "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?"

So, my meltdown was not just with myself it was with God. And it was embarrassing.

1. The Commandments are about Relationships

What we cannot miss in learning about the Ten Commandments is that these are not just laws. These commandments are about relationships. We know that the Bible is not just a book of do's and don'ts, its an epic story about God and the crown of his creation, mankind. The Bible is about how God relates to us and redeems His people.

Let us never reduce the Bible to just a bunch of rules and laws that are hard to follow. We have to constantly remind ourselves that the Bible is about God and His people. God cares about you as an individual and God cares about you as his Church, the body of Christ. The commandments are not an end to themselves. The commandments are the application of God's love for his people and our love for God.

Your relationship with God is secure. It is for all eternity. Nothing can separate you from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. God has made a covenant with you, by using the blood of his Son, to confirm, establish and seal his relationship with you.
