If you have your Bible, turn to Romans chapter 8. We have been in a series for the last six weeks on Romans chapter 8. And today, we want to finish this series with a message titled, "Questions and Answers."
I was reading about Watchman Nee. You know, Watchman Nee was the Chinese Christian leader and author who made such an impact in the world and in his community for Christ. Well, he had a young convert who came to him one day and said to him, "Watchman Nee, I have received Christ, I'm just doing so poorly in my Christian life. I pray, and I try, and I try to be faithful, but I am not very faithful." And he said, "I am afraid I am losing my salvation."
Have you ever felt like you were losing your salvation? You know, we have lots of well-meaning Christians who believe and who teach that a person can lose his or her salvation. Now, in Romans chapter 8, Paul gives a definitive answer to that question, can a person lose his salvation? And the definitive answer is no!
Now, I was on a website this morning, and I was looking to see people who have lost their salvation. And this one guy put, "Well, Judas." Judas didn't lose his salvation. Judas never had it. Jesus said, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, yet one of you is a devil?" and He was speaking of Judas Iscariot. Judas didn't lose his salvation. He never had his salvation. So, good, proper understanding of Scripture lets us know, beyond any shadow of any doubt, that once you are truly saved through repentance and faith, you can never, no never, no never, ever, ever lose it. That is good news. I remember hearing a sermon years ago when I was in college, and the preacher said, "Hey, you want a free trip to Hawaii? Find somebody in the Bible who lost his salvation."
