When God, at least from our human perspective, doesn't always seem to come through, what do you do?
I have been preaching for over half a century and I can still recall some of the great lessons I learned in my early ministry. Those lessons weren't learned in a theological seminary class, though I have degrees from a couple of those schools of higher education.
No -- the greatest lessons were learned when I pastored those small country churches where I cut my teeth preaching those simple sermons that were heard by modest and simple-minded farmers that put up with my immature preaching.
I recall preaching about faith and God's provision for His people. As I was rolling along -- I made, what I thought, was a profound statement when I said, "God is never late and He never makes a mistake." Which is true!
After the service, one of my older farmers in that small community came up to me and said, "That was a good message Preacher! And you are right -- God is never late and He never makes a mistake -- but He ain't a might too early either!"
For over 50 years -- those words still ring in my ears regarding the truth from that farmer that has gone on to glory!
I. REMEMBER HIS PROVISION
No matter how most of the time you didn't get a sensational answer. For every one of you there has been at least a time or two that you did.
Norman Venice Peal said, "The positive thinker doesn't refuse to acknowledge the negative. He merely refuses to dwell on it."
You can dwell on the bad things that are happening or you can choose to dwell on the good things that are happening.
This will get you through the bad times. You need to focus on those things that are good. Remember these things when things are going bad.
