INTRODUCTION: Let's begin this morning with a little contest. Let's see who can hold their eyes open the longest without blinking. Raise your hand and then lower it when you have blinked. The winner gets a bottle of Visine.

I Corinthians 15:52 "It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye".

Paul is writing there about how quickly everything changes for those who happen to be living when Jesus returns. In the blink of an eye. Likewise, when we die, things will change for us "in the blink of an eye."

One instant, we're here on earth; the next instant, we're standing in eternity. Blink. And then what?

EXAMPLE: Sometimes on social media you might see a post to this effect: "If you could go back in time and communicate a message to your younger self, what would it be?" For instance, send a message to your 1982 self to buy Apple stock at .04 cents per share. That would be helpful!

As the only person to come from eternity to earth, then return to eternity, Jesus knows the whole truth - past, present, and future - and can give us a one-of-a-kind perspective. He can see our present (there you are listening to a sermon at VCC) from a moment far out in our infinite future and tell us exactly how to prepare for what is to come.

Listen to a moment in the future that Jesus told His disciples about: "For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works" (Matthew 16:27).
