Today, we're wrapping up this message series entitled: Our Mission. Over the past several weeks, we've seen from the Bible how the Lord has commissioned us to... Love God. Find Community... and... Make a difference. And today, I want us to talk about HOW our lives can actually accomplish this God-given mission.

I recently read about a lady named Dorothy Haskins-she was a world-famous concert violist who was well-known for being one of the best in the world. One day someone asked her-how she able to master her instrument. And this is what she said:

"There are many things that used to demand my time. When I went to my room after breakfast, I made my bed, I straightened the room, I dusted and did whatever seemed necessary. When I finished my work, I turned to my violin practice. That system prevented me from accomplishing what I should on the violin, so I reversed things. I deliberately planned to neglect everything else until my practice period was complete. And that program of planned neglect is the secret to my success."

If we're going to accomplish our mission-we've got to keep the main thing... the main thing! Let me ask you: What is the MAIN THING in your life... the MISSION... that you believe God has called you to?

I believe the answer to that question is really, two-fold.

- We have a collective mission as the church. (Great Commission... Acts 1:8) He's talking to us, as the church.

- We have a personal mission as a Christian. (We've been equipped with the Holy Spirit and commissioned by Jesus to make a difference exactly where we are today). In [Mark 16:15] Jesus told us specifically to, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." He's talking to every believer... here. He's saying, this is the personal mission I've called you to.
