Title: Find Community (2 of 4)
Series: Our Mission
Author: Jordan Easley
Text: Acts 2:40-47
When someone asks me if I was born here... my immediate response is: "No, but I got here as fast as I could! ...and I aint leaving anytime soon." If you weren't born here... you understand what that's like.
Tennessee is one of those states where being born here gives you bragging rights of sorts. You drive around and you'll see bumper stickers that say Tennessee NATIVE-and I realize, being born in Texas, I'll never be able to slap a 'Tennessee NATIVE' bumper sticker on my car... but that doesn't mean I'm not ALL-IN as a resident of this great state.
You know what I've realized? You don't have to be a NATIVE in order to be a LOCAL. You don't have to be FROM here... to be ONE OF US. Right?
None of us can control if we're a native or not, but we do control if we're a local. Locals are known and committed. Locals do their part and contribute to their community... Locals make a difference. And there are people like that all across this community... people who weren't born here... but who have found a home here.
So let me say to all of us-whether you've been here a hundred years and you're a NATIVE... or if this is your first Sunday in Cleveland as a LOCAL... Welcome Home! We're glad you're here... and we're glad you're a part of this community!
Today we're continuing in a series, where we're looking at the major phrases of our new mission statement. These phrases focus on what we believe God has called us, as the church, to be about.
We exist in order to help people... Love God... Find Community... & Make a Difference. Last week we talked about Loving God-and saw how Loving God was both... the foundation of our mission, and also the first step in accomplishing our mission.
Today, we're going to shift gears and turn our focus to finding community. We all need community! Amen? In [Matthew 18:20] Jesus told us why. He said, "For where t ...
