Title: Help Me Find My Faith
Author: Scott Maze
Text: 1 John 5:4-13

Do you know anybody like Jason? A friend and I were talking several years ago. We were both pastors who were concerned about our friend, Jason. Jason had grown up in church and had been a part of many of the vital things churches do - VBS, youth camps, and he was present every Sunday in the pews. He went on to a Christian university upon graduation from high school. He even told us that experienced a call into ministry. Jason was soon a pastor who specialized in working with teenagers here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. When he was still in his early 30s, Jason had left his wife, Michelle, and the Christian faith. Last time I heard anything about Jason he was living in Austin and has nothing to do with the church or Christianity. The people that Jason is still in contact with (he's cut off a lot of his old friends) say that he's not angry or mad at the church, but he's just disinterested in everything that is Christian. While his wife moved up north after their divorce, he lives single in the city and working his job. As far as I know, he hasn't converted to any other major religion. And when asked about his former life and why he changed, he simply shrugs his shoulders and says he doesn't know why. Do you know anybody like Jason?

I invite you to find 1 John 5 with me if you will. This morning I want to talk to those who say, "I used to be a Christian." Or, "I think I am a Christian but I am not sure." What would you say to people like my friend Jason?
