ARE YOU PLANTING THE RIGHT SEED?
Some time ago "Reader's Digest" told the story about a company who mailed out some special advertising business post cards with a mustard seed glued to it with the following caption that went something like this: "If you have faith as small as this mustard seed in our (product), you are guaranteed to get excellent results and be totally satisfied. "Signed, The Management
A few months later one recipient of this promotional piece wrote back to the company and said, "You will be very interested to know that I planted the mustard seed you sent on your advertising card and it has grown into a very healthy bush producing wonderful tomatoes!"
Be very careful as to the seeds that you are planting, reaping will soon follow.
In the scripture before us, we find the Lord dealing with the light of his word and the responsibility that one has in hearing the word. The Lord also discusses the mystery of salvation and the beauty of how a seed can sprout before our very eyes, yet we cannot really comprehend it or understand it.
Then he will discuss the oddity and the deformity of a mustard seed, which is an herbal plant, growing into this monstrosity of a tree. This parable is an awesome depiction of this modern age, as we see all forms of worldliness taking homage under the identity of the church.
Lastly, we see the Lord leading his men to board ship, as other boats follow nearby, before a mighty storm overwhelms the boat, while the Lord is fast asleep. This drives the disciples into a state of fear, as they awaken the Lord, asking him to calm the storm. We will s ...
