INTRODUCTION
RECENTLY IN DACULA A JOINT PROJECT BETWEEN DACULA
HIGH SCHOOL, CHURCHES, AND THE COMMUNITY WAS CARRIED
OUT.
THE PROJECT WAS "HANDS TOGETHER DACULA."
OVER 200 STUDENTS CLEANED YARDS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS,
MADE TEDDY BEARS FOR FIREMEN TO GIVE OUT, WORKED IN
THE COMMUNITY PARKS AND DID OTHER HELPFUL JOBS.
HS STUDENTS WORKED HARD ON THIS PROJECT.
MANY WORTHWHILE THINGS WERE DONE FOR FAMILIES AND
THE COMMUNITY IN GENERAL.
WHERE WAS THE NEWS MEDIA WHEN ALL THIS WAS
HAPPENING?
IF IT HAD BEEN A TRAGEDY OR TROUBLE YOU BETTER BELIEVE
THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT IN FORCE.
UNFORTUNATELY WE LIVE IN A DAY WHEN ONLY BAD THINGS
OFTEN GET ANY PUBLICITY.
NO WHERE IS THIS MORE TRUE THAN IN THE FAMILY.
TOO OFTEN IF A "FAMILY" ORIENTED STORY MAKES THE FRONT
PAGE IT IS BECAUSE SOMETHING TERRIBLE HAS OCCURRED.
WHERE ARE THE STORIES OF GOOD THINGS HAPPENING AMONG
FAMILIES TODAY?
WE KNOW WHAT WEAKENS A FAMILY, BUT WHAT MAKES
FAMILIES STRONG?
THAT IS THE FOCUS OF THIS MESSAGE SERIES.
TODAY I AM BEGINNING A SERIES FOCUSING IN ON FAMILY
TIES.
TODAY'S MESSAGE DEALS WITH "MARKS OF A GREAT FAMILY".
THE PRINCIPLES COME FROM A STORY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
FOUND IN 2 KINGS 4:8-37.
THE STORY CENTERS ON A WOMAN WHO HELPED GOD'S MAN,
ELISHA. HE MINISTERS TO HER FAMILY IN A VERY SPECIAL
WAY.
FROM THIS STORY ONE CAN SEE THOSE THINGS THAT MAKE A
FAMILY STRONG TODAY.
THE MARKS OF A GREAT FAMILY ARE:
CHRIST. VS. 8-10.
IT IS VERY EVIDENT THERE WAS LOVE AND RESPECT FOR THE
THINGS OF GOD.
CHRIST IS A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF STRONG FAMILIES.
HE IS MORE THAN A TOKEN OR AN EMBLEM.
THE FAMILY BIBLE IS MORE THAN A GOOD LUCK CHARM.
IN A STRONG FAMILY CHRIST IS PART OF THE LIVES OF THE
INDIVIDUALS WITHIN THAT FAMILY.
ONE OF THE GREATEST ILLUSTRATIONS OF THE FAMILY IS THE
STORY O ...
