2 Corinthians
Introduction
A. Will it be easier or more difficult to live a christian life in the new millennium.
1. It is never easy in any generation.
2. It is easier in some locations.
B. I believe it will be more and more difficult.
1. Distractions increase.
2. Disturbances are on the increase.
C. One of the toughest battles the christian has to fight in any generation is an internal one.
D. Paul, in ii corinthians 7:1, deals with that fact.
1. The corinthian church was made up of many new believers.
2. Paul was pointing out to them there were two things they would daily have to do.
A. Cleanse themselves spiritually.
B. Commit themselves spiritually.
3. It is no different for us today.
I. There must be daily cleansing. Vs. 7a.
A. There is a paradox.
1. When you are saved you are a new person.
2. At the same time there are things we must get out of our lives.
A. This is what the first half of verse 7 is all about.
B. Lazarus was called from the grave by jesus. When he came out he was alive, but there were grave clothes that had to be removed.
C. Spiritually we have on some grave clothes from the old life.
3. Some things are easier than others to get out of one's life.
A. One person's victory may be another person's battle.
B. We all have battles to fight.
B. There is a change in perspective.
1. When one is saved and begins to grow he notices things that are not right.
2. I believe it takes the salvation experience for us to really see things as they are.
A. Remember the blinders paul talked about.
B. When the blinders are removed the light shines in.
3. We will not see sin as it is until we are saved.
